This page is for researchers, clinicians and computer graphics specialists to explain in more detail two research projects that I envision. This would not only benefit our practices and research efforts, but all humanity as well. [Please bookmark this page because there is no link from the main website.]

Project #1 (defined September 2007)

I want to see an additional imaging technology project carried out. This would show that hyaluronic acid forms the functional tubules that carry the ions that perform the tasks of what has been called Qi. The details noted in Project #2 are relevant to this Project #1. This separate project is based on another technology. Whereas #2 was proposed for the purpose of graphically modeling the electromagnetic environment within the living body as a result of the ions carried in the blood as it moves through the vessels, #1 aims to capture images of the concentration of actual molecules of Hyaluronic Acid (also known as "hyaluronan" or "hyaluronate").

The Project: Hire a company that performs Magnetic Resonance Imaging to set up a scan of the human body in 3-D that captures the vibratory signal of molecules of H.A. This would display as bright white (or other color we choose) those areas that are high in H.A. concentation.

It is my expectation that the body's store of hyaluronic acid is distributed in patterns and that these patterns are in direct relationship to the blood vessels that generate the electromagnetic fields that in turn cause the H.A. to migrate into the zones that are called "meridians" by acupuncturists. This is described in Project #2 below, that was aimed at producing a graphic image based upon 3-D computer modeling of human blood vessel anatomy and electromagnetic fields around the vessels.

Expectation: We would see 3-dimensional image of the transparent human body (the type of scan will not visualize bones or muscles or nerves) that includes within it a network of what appear as "noodles" of various size.

Implications: This would prove that there is a scientific basis for acupuncture meridians. That proof would necessitate the inclusion into modern "western" medicine the functional "energy anatomy" of the human being. That inclusion would bring with it the need to re-examine the successes of acupuncture and other methods that affect the flow of body energies (called Qi, Prana, Ho-omana, etc.). In short, this would revolutionize health care and "bring to the table" experts in health support approaches that have not yet been understood or appreciated.

A Google search for "hyaluronic acid" returned over 2 million citations. It is often mentioned in research articles about acupuncture (published overseas). And a more specific search brings up my own web site about this: Google Search.

This project deserves to be carried out.

Project #2 (posted 2004)

Visitors,

The science this project is intended to illustrate is still being developed. The project may even help to encourage scientific investigations that can be more definitive.

The bottom line proposal is to create a 3-D model of a human, outer skin first, then successively add blood vessels, lymph vessels and acupuncture points and the "Jing-Mai" (meridians). Other features may be added. Then the electric charge of the arteries and veins would be programmed in. Then the resulting electromagnetic fields formed by the flowing ions would be shown. Then the intersecting areas between the fields would be shown and examined to see if this would support the Hyaluronic Acid hypothesis mentioned in #2 below, as well as Langevin's "Connective Tissue Planes" model seen in References section in #4.

This work as explained below, honors Emanuel Revici, M.D., Björn Nordenström, M.D., Reinholld Voll, M.D., Stephen Porges, Ph.D., and other innovative thinkers.

As an appreciator of Science this project seems very important. I think it is on the level of the Human Genome Project. We may find out things we never imagined. If you need more information in deciding how you can advise or help with the project, please contact me at:  202-237-7000, Extension 0.

Information below:

1) First, I show pictures that are lovely and inspiring creations of Alex Grey. Viewing his website and the books would help see some of my motivation. Also the conjecture of John Evans in Mind, Body and Electromagnetism has computer-aided graphics.

2) Next is the Hyaluronic Acid information that may be at the core of the science of how the body has energy flowing in areas that do not have blood vessels. In fact, it is my contention that the energy flows where there is an absence of blood vessels. This is the main motivation behind the 3-D Human Energy Graphic project.

3) The discovery by Björn Nordenström, MD, of the electrical circuit of the body.

4) Research, citations, references and clinical notes dealing with the body energy field and the science and clinical aspects relating to it. Also Stephen Porges' work on the Triune Autonomic Nervous System. Also the work of Emanual Revici, M.D. Also the work of Rinehold Voll, M.D.

5) NOTE: Integral to my understanding is the relationship of the following to the field of Biological Dentistry, as well as the synthesis of it all by Dietrich Klinghardt, M.D.

Illustrates how the vessels are in different locations than the acumeridian points. No traditional acupuncture point goes into an artery, vein or nerve. At death, blood flow stops, fields collapse, and leave no tubules behind. This explains why dissection never reveals meridians. They only exist in living organisms with fluid flow.

Explaining Acumeridian Function: Possible basis of acumeridian energy flow

Unique model may provide scientific explanation for acupuncture meridians.

This Hyaluronic Acid model would explain why energy can flow in the body along lines known as acupuncture meridians, but channels have not been found on dissection of the body. In this model, Hyaluronic Acid molecules are pulled into position by the electromagnetic charge around the arteries and veins. I base explanation this on the work of Bjorn Nordenstrom, M.D. -- author of  the book Biologically Closed Electric Circuits -- that shows different charge in arteries than in veins. -- Dr. Wilson

Hyaluronic acid food supplement [possible breakthrough I am investigating].

I am not selling this product, but hope to inspire clinicians to work with this and see if we can observe improvement in "Chi flow", i.e., better function of any physiological system in the body as assessed by acupuncture pulse and tongue diagnosis. The company has information about health benefits. I think it may have acumeridian benefits; this would be a way we could see how western science and acumeridian science combine.

Klinghardt credits him with crucial theory explaining success of his A.R.T. technique

Emanuel Revici, M.D. His understanding of the Periodic Table of the Elements is an important way of looking at electromagnetic dynamics of elements and can guide in choosing the best way to balance body biochemistry. Cancer was his focus, but I cite him here because the energy relationships he saw are crucial to the unified approach I believe is possible if all these disciplines are seen as parts of a whole.
Memorial Tribute to Dr. Revici [at above link]: His concept of the dynamic antagonism between electrostatic and quantum forces derived from his roughly contemporaneous adaptation of the major conceptual "revolutions" in theoretical physics during the first decades of the 20th century. This may distinguish him as the first research clinician to synthesize classic Newtonian and modern nuclear physics in applications to biological science and medicine.

Acumeridian Tapping: Different than reflexology, based on energy fields and the assumption that they connect to the body at acupoints. Several ways of working with these have been developed. Resources for more information include:

For newcomers: Welcome to a technology that every clinic should offer; a huge number of clinics around the world use this.

[EAV/EDS introduction]

Large acupuncture chart [225K JPEG].  As you will see if you explore the self-study sites mentioned below, and my notes on Auricular Acupuncture, there are energy flow lines that were discovered and worked with by doctors in China, Japan and Korea  thousands of years ago. These lines or channels are called "meridians" and charts and manikins such as those above show their locations. There are also internal channel connections between organs and the external body. This is some of the background for the techniques I use and that many practitioners of "holistic medicine" also use. Traditional Chinese Medicine organ system function overview.

Much research has already been done concerning these, and scientists are already producing varieties of devices that function in ways predicted by the "Star Trek" kind of medical scanner. In fact, I was privileged to attend a presentation by a development corporation called "Body Scan" whose technology beamed light in front of the seated patient and then measured the changes in the qualities of the light beam as it passed the human's energy field. One of the original investors in Body Scan was Dr. John Bastyr, whose name lives on in Bastyr University. [The company eventually dissolved, but it brought inspiration to many, and the concept still deserves major investigation.]

Illustration of BodyScan Principle [BodyScan, Inc. -- 1980s]

The company's scientists designed a test room in which a person would sit and have beams of light passed from one side to the other. The sensor on the other side of the body would detect changes in the light as a result of its interaction with the field surrounding the body. This company offered stock to investors. The company later disbanded. A notable investor in this technology was John Bastyr, D.C.,N.D., whose name is honored at Bastyr University.

As traditional acupuncture practitioners will be quick to say, we don't need fancy devices to use meridians to help people. I am glad to be at NIHA, where we have the high-tech EAV/Electro-Dermal Screening device as well as muscle biofeedback ART (Autonomic Response Testing), acupressure/reflexology as performed in the Spa, etc.

"What diseases can Acupuncture treat?"

Acumeridian Tapping:  A variety of energy flow treatments now exist, that can be applied by non-needle approaches in very effective fashion. Taught by Dr. Klinghardt, Roger Callahan and others, each with different understandings of how it makes the body undergo positive changes. Now a central part of the Autonomic Response Test protocol.

The fractal dynamics page has some good information and links. I believe this is the field that proves the ebb and flow and variability inherent in acumeridian theory, and is necessary to understand Heart Rate Variability biofeedback and its implications, as well as the variations seen in iridology, individual responses to therapies, etc.

Fractal Dynamics lectures and I-Ching synchronicity information

There is a wealth of information online about the 64 unit I-Ching structure. The I-Ching has been called a fractal discovery that has implications for both psychology and study of the nature of the flow of life. Psychologist C.G. Jung wrote extensively about the value of the I-Ching in self-discovery, as well as the concept of "Synchronicity." I highly recommend the I-Ching for both scientific and personal benefits. The book The Medical I-Ching, describes one way to apply this.

One resource is a CD that contains a software that allows the process of the original yarrow stalk approach to casting the I-Ching: The Oracle of Changes
